Looking for a unique venue to host food events?
On days and evenings when we don’t have our own regularly scheduled activities, The Dep is available as a venue for dinner parties, fundraisers, workshops, team-building events, video shoots, and more. It’s a unique space that includes a fabulous roster of culinary talent, use of our equipped kitchen as well as all the tables & chairs, linens, tableware and staff to help with setup, service and teardown.

The Dep is available for rent on most Tue, Thur and Fri evenings (3-11pm), as well as Tue, Wed & Thu days (8am-3pm). Other times may be available if booked far enough in advance. Private events are priced per person, based on a 10 person minimum and 24 person maximum.
Cooking Classes are primarily interactive, hands-on instruction, with participants eating or taking home what’s made in class. Supper Clubs are a multi-course family-style dinner party for dining only, no cooking.
If you would like The Dep to coordinate a chef or instructor for your event, we can host most turnkey Classes or Supper Clubs at our standard event price of $60pp (+HST). It is also possible to do a hybrid Class+Supper Club with an interactive cooking component plus a full dinner for $90pp (+HST).
Minimum turnkey event rental is $600. (Up to 10 guests).
For hands-on cooking classes, we recommend 12-14p max; for cooking demos up to 16-18p, and for family-style dining up to 24-26p
Events with customized menus, additional courses, premium ingredients, complex/special dietary restrictions or certain VIP chefs may incur additional charges which would be negotiated with the chefs at the time of booking.
Venue-Only / Self-Catering
You can also rent The Dep as a venue only; it includes full use of our equipped kitchen, along with all our tables, chairs, tableware, linens, etc. as well as basic clean up. For food, you have lots of choices: you can cook it yourself or together with friends, host a potluck, or use any chef or caterer of your choice.
For evenings (3-11pm), typically THU or FRI (some MON & TUE evenings are also available), the cost is $30 per person (+HST).
SAT or SUN evenings are typically booked for our own events, but may be available if booked far enough in advance, or during one of our holiday closures (August and mid-Dec to mid-Jan).
Minimum evening event rental is $300. (Up to 10 guests).
For daytimes (8am-3pm) on TUE, WED or FRI, the cost is $25 per person (+HST).
Minimum daytime event rental is $250. (Up to 10 guests)

To Book The Dep
Let us know the date you’re interested in, and if it’s available, we can reserve it for you upon receipt of a $200 deposit, which will be applied towards your final bill. This deposit is non-refundable if the event is cancelled less with than 6 weeks notice.
Private events serving alcohol require a Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO ($45). You can then bring whatever you wish to drink, and there is no additional charges; typically you will save a LOT compared to going to a regular restaurant.
Please Note: we’re not a bar or a club – our space is designed for dinner parties, and our events wrap up by around 11pm. We share the building with long-time residents, so our venue is not suited for loud music, bands or DJs.
